ROHNERT PARK, Sonoma County — October 26, 2026. A long-discussed downtown redevelopment is entering a new review stage after CenterCal Properties submitted proposed development plans for 6400 State Farm Drive. At the October 13 City Council meeting, city officials detailed a potential 401-home mixed-use district alongside shops, restaurants, a hotel and a public plaza.
What’s in the proposal?
The developer’s submission covers approximately 163,931 square feet of commercial and retail space, a 128-room hotel with about 3,500 square feet of meeting space and a one-acre plaza intended for events and public gathering. The housing component consists of 250 multifamily homes, 51 detached homes for purchase and 100 affordable units. The affordable homes are shown overlooking the proposed plaza.
Why this proposal matters to local residents
The project aims to put homes, commercial space and gathering places near existing transit connections. Residents will likely want more detail about traffic, parking, infrastructure, affordability requirements, school access and how an event plaza might be used. The project materials include additional electric-vehicle and bicycle parking.
The homes and hotel are not approved or open
City staff must still review consistency with the California Environmental Quality Act and applicable local and state building and design codes. Rohnert Park anticipates public meetings involving the Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission and City Council over roughly nine to 18 months. The developer has submitted a plan, not received a final construction approval or broken ground on 401 finished homes.
